PRINTS
Using printing ink and a roller I covered the front my sliced red cabbage to capture the layers in a physical form, rather than just documenting it in an image.
Red Cabbage Leaves:
Overlay:
I wanted to compare the layers and texture captured on the ink to that of what is captured in an image, showing how the ink has captured sections of the cabbage that cannot be seen in the image nor the naked eye.
DIGITAL NEGATIVES
Using my prints I wanted to create digital negatives in the darkroom using acetate. After inverting my images and printing them I took them into the darkroom and exposed the patterns onto the photosensitive paper for 7.5 seconds. Using this process allows me to see the patterns in a different form and possibly showing things that aren't visible to the naked eye.
